tk-food-drive   Hello Social Action Committee Volunteers: Our Thanksgiving Turkey Drive was an overwhelming success thanks to the advertising, organizing and collection efforts of Steve Heiber, Larry Lerner, Bob Share, Tony Taylor and the wonderful promotion support from Marty Gilbert and Rabbi Disick. We collected 54 turkeys, which were picked up by a representative of the National Council of Negro Women - section of the Oranges to be distributed to families in Essex County.  It is so rewarding to know that 54 families will have a turkey on their Thanksgiving table thanks to our Temple's efforts.  We also gave them a big bag of the "fixins" to provide to some of the people who receive turkeys. We have a need for a few more items --  Sue Cosden has a class of teens on Tuesday night that will be packing up three baskets for homeless families. They have the turkeys and foil pans, table runners, cans of soup, powdered potatoes, cans of green vegetables and carrots, apple cider, packets of gravy mix and deserts.   They can use the following additional items: 3 packets of stuffing mix 3 cans of yams or enough fresh sweet potatoes for each basket for a family of 4 3 bags of marshmallows Anything else that might be nice to include in the baskets (ie: apples, small toys, centerpiece, napkins, etc) If you send me a message, I will let people know when we have enough.  Anything extra donated will either be included in the baskets or donated to C.H.O.W. Thank you for being a part of our efforts to make sure that everyone in our area has a holiday meal to enjoy. Also, we have collected about 25 bags of items for refugee children for the Refuge Hope Project  -  If you are donating a bag of items, please leave it in one of the blue bins in the coat closet by December 9th.  Bags with a list of items needed are available in the Temple Office and the Religious School Office. Wishing you all a meaningful and enjoyable Thanksgiving Holiday. Suzanne 973-476-5197
