On Tuesday, November 10, 4:00-7:00 pm, our seventh graders will be visiting the Community Food Bank of New Jersey in Hillside. Snack and study hall will be available for our students from 3:30-4:00 pm. Then we hope to have at least six parents drive us to the food bank. If you are able to drive, please contact Ruth Cash at Ruth@emanuel.org by Tuesday, Nov. 3. If we are unable to have at least six parent volunteers, we will need to rent a bus. We will volunteer at the food bank 4:30-6:30 and then arrive back at the temple at approximately 7:00 pm.
We must confirm our group size one week prior to the trip, so please RSVP for your seventh grader to Ruth Cash at Ruth@emanuel.org no later than Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 4:00 pm. We are not allowed to increase our number after Tuesday, Nov. 3.
To ensure everyone's safety at the warehouse, all participants must wear sneakers or work boots, long pants, and a t-shirt or sweatshirt. The building does not have heat so a sweatshirt or sweater is highly recommended. Participants should not wear dangling jewelry. As backpacks and purses are not allowed in the warehouse, we will have a spot for all of our students to leave their bags at the temple.
This field trip is the second of three field trips during our unit on hunger/food insecurity, poverty, and homelessness. Our third field trip will take Dec. 15.
