Building community – one relationship at a time”

Dear Temple Emanu-El Family,

Generations of families like yours have chosen to be a part of our sacred community. Temple Emanu-El is where we gather to grow spiritually, to socialize with one another and to share in both the simchas and sorrows of our lives. This past year has been difficult at our synagogue. The heartache from the issues that lead to the departures of our previous clergy has left our community in need of healing. In this difficult time we must turn to one another for support and strength as we renew our temple’s ruach. This year, as we celebrate our temple’s 60th anniversary, we need to prove that our congregation’s heart still beats. There will be many challenges ahead of us this year, we must work together to overcome these challenges. As the High Holy Days approach, we must begin our annual Circle of Friends High Holy Day Appeal. This critical annual campaign provides for the continuous operation of our synagogue. Just as in many temples across the country, less than 50% of our operating costs are covered by temple dues. For the rest we rely upon your generosity and tzedakah throughout the year, and most especially during our COF campaign. The true power of our Circle of Friends campaign lies not in the size of anyone’s individual gift, but in how many in our community invest in our future. Every gift, no matter what the amount, makes an immediate impact on our Temple and touches the lives of those within our congregation. Whatever your level of giving, please join us in strengthening the Temple and carrying out our vision for our community. If you made a donation last year, please consider increasing it, perhaps even doubling it, this year.

You may make your contribution in one of two ways: by scrolling to the bottom of this page and filling out the online form, or by sending your personal check with a completed Circle of Friends donation form. The temple is continuing our custom of honoring those you love by making the Scrolls of Celebration and Remembrance available to you. The form for submitting donations and entries for either Scroll has been sent by mail to all of our congregants and can be downloaded here.  If you make your contribution online and wish to have entries in either Scroll, simply return the form filled out and we will match your form with the electronic record of your contribution. In order for the Scrolls to be ready by Rosh Hashanah, we ask that you submit your form by September 13, 2016.

On behalf of Rabbi Marc Disick and the Temple Board of Trustees, we thank you for your commitment to sustaining our community and look forward to worshipping together in the weeks and year ahead. L’ Shana Tova,

John Norton,  Temple President
